My chidren have a name for me, they call me "techo-mummy". This is hilarious to me, because when I retired from a real job, six years ago I was very known for being dependent of my staff for everything to do with the internet. When my youngest son who is an internet specialist went on an extended working holiday to New Zealand and Australia, he gave me one of the best pieces of advice I ever got, from anyone. "Try, Mummy. It's not going to break, just get in there and experiment." My first foray into social media was in 2007 when I started writing my first blog. In those days I didn't even know how to add the pictures. In 2008 I attended a seminar at the Cayman Islands Investment Bureau which just happened to be hosted by my son the PhD ( excuse my small boast). What happened after that was that for some reason I was stuck at home for two days, and I had all these copious hand-written notes I had taken at the seminar, so I decided to experiment. Facebook? isn't that for college students? Now the internet and social media has opened up a whole new aspect of work for me as I market my company Simply Weddings to the Destination Wedding Market.
Recently, I took an extended holiday to be present at the birth of my newest grand-daughter, in the USA. Imagine my delight to receive a brand new IPad 2 with the inscription " To Gama Joy, with love from Sophia. Thanks for being here." Now my Granny's Brag-Book is my IPad 2, and everybody who sees me also sees my pictures.
Of course my thoughts soon turned to how I could use this fantastic tool in my weddings, here's how:
When the ceremony is over, I snap a few pictures mostly for my Facebook page, since most of my weddings have our professional photography package.
I really like this shot from the Governor's Beach towards George Towm, when you can see all the cruiseships lined up.
Thanks to this recent cruiseship wedding couple from Lexington, KY who agreed to be the guinea pigs for my first IPad wedding! This was taken in the garden outside our Simply Weddings office on North Church St. Their wedding photos, which are fabulous were shot by one of our talented professional photographer's Yvette McField.
Here is one of the lovely wedding photos taken by Yvette after the wedding.
